On this website, “At the Whim of the Black-and-White Cat,” I mainly write articles about music (such as piano practice methods, etc.).

To be honest, I have this strong desire to bewilder readers with eye-opening articles?! (Although it doesn’t often turn out that way) So, I post my articles with that in mind, but how’s that going, I wonder…

By the way, I usually work in a certain region of central Japan as a pianist, singer, piano teacher, and voice trainer.
Yes, I wanted to be both a performer and a teacher at the same time.
There are times when I find myself caught between performing and teaching (>_<), struggling through it. But somehow?! I live a resilient life (haha).

For this series of articles, I’ve been focusing on classical pieces—most of them (though not all) are pieces I studied diligently in my teens.
Now that I’m older, I can analyze them better and think about more efficient ways to practice. As I worked on each piece, I reminisced about the past and felt nostalgic, which made the process surprisingly enjoyable♪

Currently, the genres I play as a pianist at work include classical music, but I’d say jazz and pop music make up a larger proportion.
Therefore, delving deeply into classical music this time has been a valuable experience for me, allowing me to discover new insights and perspectives that differ from what I had back then.
In that sense, I’m grateful to Shirokuro-san.

For those of you reading my articles, I imagine you’ve come to this site with various feelings about "playing the piano."

As you know, improving your piano skills requires steady practice, no matter how talented you are. Even just five minutes a day is fine—consistent effort is the fastest way to improve.
That said, there are days when you don’t feel like practicing...

On those days, I clean my house. It clears my mind, and then I can focus on the piano again. Apparently, cleaning is beneficial from a brain science perspective too. Hmm, and after that, maybe it’s all about motivation!!

This profile has strayed a bit from its original purpose, but I wanted to share my thoughts with you, so I dared to put them into words.
